The innovative winning design, featuring a dynamic portrayal of a female football player, was designed by Berlin-based communication agency WE DO. The portrayal successfully captures the diversity, dynamic and athleticism of women’s football, with the slight movement of the balls giving the design an almost three-dimensional illusion.
The design is made up of thousands of small footballs, a homage to the Official Poster for the 2006 FIFA World Cup™, where the main visual was a football created by thousands of bright stars.
