Ambassador John Bass announced the winner of the U.S. Embassy 20th Anniversary Logo Contest andpresented the winner with the contest’s grand prize, a brand-new iPad2, on Tuesday, February 14 at 16:00at in the U.S. Embassy. The Ambassador spoke to the press following the ceremony.
The winner of the contest was Tamar Makharashvili, a 21-year-old native of Gori and a bachelor’s degreestudent of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Tbilisi State University. Ms. Makharashvili also worksfor EM Consulting and Software. She dedicated her logo to “the last two decades of partnership” betweenthe United States and Georgia and to our “cooperation in the future.”
In honor of the 20th anniversary of bilateral relations between the United States and Georgia, the Embassyannounced the logo contest in November 2011. The contest was open to Georgian youth ages 15 to 25.When the contest closed on January 15, 2012, the Embassy had received over 100 entries.
The U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi was established on April 23, 1992, and throughout 2012, the U.S. andGeorgian governments will be celebrating two decades of diplomacy, friendship, and partnership.
