The EXPO 2012 Turkey Logo contains shades of blue ranging from dark to light reflecting the themes of "Water" and "Sea", "Drop" and "Ocean". While the drop is represented by the lightest shade of blue, the ocean is represented with a shade of blue equally dark. The “Evil Eye Bead” that is an icon specific to Turkey has been given the form of a water drop in keeping with the theme. The eye image that has been embraced throughout history as a talisman that wards off evil, has gained a new identity as the “Evil Eye Bead” in the hands of a glass-maker in Anatolia, and became a significant aspect of Turkish tradition. The importance of maintaining an authentic presence in the international platform was kept in mind.
The Wzar, a traditional fabric used by Qatari fishermen and pearl divers has been chosen as the logo of the Pavilion. The distinctive weave symbolises the interweaving of the old and new; old traditions with modern day interpretations. It also represents the rhythmic and seasonal migration between desert and coast, thus making for a sustainable lifestyle.
