Our symbol is in the motif of chopsticks.It expresses the spirit of (expression of gratitude before starting a meal) and (thank you for the meal); the phrase (don’t be wasteful) expressed in the shape of chopsticks that can pick up anything – no matter how small. The chopsticks laid out in rows express (a sense of sharing) and also convey the meaning that everyone in the world is connected by the theme of food. The shape of the chopsticks, thin on both sides, denotes that they are , a type of chopsticks unique to Japan that are used on festive occasions. Their elegant curves convey the Japanese aesthetic, and they have been arranged to form the “E” in Expo. This fun image simply communicates the Japanese spirit to its utmost limits and can change shape depending on how it is arranged.
